Inverness to Fife: Golf at Pitlochry and Falkland
Our final transition day, skirting the Cairngorms and stopping for some golf along the way.
Elevated green at Pitlochry
First up was some mountainside parkland golf at Pitlochry Golf Club. This reminded my of playing Lakeside back at Keuka: the course starts going straight up the hill, making the opening holes looong. It eased up after that and had a great mix of elevated tees and elevated greens.
My golf companions
I’m so grateful that Dave and Mike opted in for my golfing madness. It has been a lot, but the terrain has been beautiful and the experience unforgettable.
Venison burger and chips
Turns out when I booked and paid for the tee time it included beer and burger, and we were so surprised by the quality and hospitality. The food overall in Scotland has been much better than I expected.
We ended our drive at Ladywell House near Falkland Village, where we get to settle down and enjoy the next six nights.
Golf at Falkland
Of course there’s a nine hole course in town so Mike and I wandered over about 7pm to see what’s what. Britt and Julie joined! It was a nice little course, stretched out over a narrow strip of land with some shared fairways.
