We are moved in and fully opened at our Keuka Cottages. Even open enough to have guests!

Julie and Chris on May 1 arrival at Keuka Julie and Chris on May 1 arrival at Keuka

We arrived May 1, after a final leg short drive from Pennsylvania. We like to arrive around noon to give us plenty of time to move stuff down from the van and get our living quarters squared away. We’ve had a long run of good luck with great weather upon arrival.

Dove eggs Dove eggs

As usual the birds have had their way with their spring nesting and egg-laying: three common grackle nests on the boat lift, and a mourning dove nest resting on top of our stacked porched screens. We will remove all the nests after fledglings launch.

Sailboat ready to go Sailboat ready to go

We rigged the Melges M-15 much earlier than usual because of guests arriving last weekend that are sailers. One minor goof related to the mast and forestay, but after three sails so far it seems to be doing quite well.

Venison in the freezer Venison in the freezer

Good friend Cliff offered to harvest a doe from his hunting ranch last fall, and I drove over to pick up the meat on Friday. We have a full supply for the summer (maybe more?) and will start this week with some ground venison added to our favorite chili recipe.
