A New York Minute
We had some spare time in Jersey City today before having to report to Newark airport for our flight to Johannesburg, and Karen hadn’t spent much time in the city. So Julie and I played walking tour guides.
Lower Manhattan skyline from Jersey City
The view from our hotel (Hyatt Regency JC) pier in Jersey City was amazing. Thinking this is a better place to stay for future visits, as the PATH trip is only 10 minutes to the World Trade Center from here, and for added fun you can catch a ferry for just a few more bucks.
On the ferry across the Hudson
We did start with the ferry and enjoyed the short walk to the WTC site.
9-11 memorial pool
It is just two days from the 9/11 anniversary, and hard to believe we are only two years from the 25th anniversary. We all experienced a slice of cheese pizza, a walk through Washington Square Park, stops at the Strand Bookstore and NYC Library, and Times Square.
Fun at the Lego store
Of course we stopped in the Lego store. And got a safari preview! Though I doubt we will see any tigers.
We are hanging out in the United Club, awaiting our Oregon companions, with a departure on our 15 hour flight in about 3 hours.
